Department of Laws
The Department of Laws was established in year 1999. Since then the Department offers B.A.LL.B. Hons. (FYIC) 5-year full time course. Selection procedure for the B.A.LL.B. Hons.(FYIC) is based on test conducted by State Level Universities. Three Universities comprising of GNDU Amritsar,Punjabi Patiala, Army Institute of laws conducts common entrance test CET-Law. The campus follows the guidelines issued by Bar Council of India regarding curriculum, syllabus to be taught.
The Department also offers Inter Disciplinary course for the students of other Departments. The Department also enrolls Law Research fellows with itself.
The Department have Multimedia labs, Moot Court for practical purposes. The Legal Aid Cell is running successfully in the Department which provides legal aid to the needy persons. The Department organize Legal Aid camps within the periphery of Gurdaspur for the awareness of legal services among the Society. Besides this the department also organize various Extra-Curricular competitive activities like Debates, Moot Courts, Seminars etc. to enhance the skills of students. The Department also possesses certain precious asset in the form of very knowledgeable and hardworking faculty. Department also has excellent and well equipped Library, a well maintained Computer-Lab which provides access to students and staff. Many students of Law Department Gurdaspur have been selected as PCS(judicial) services.
HEAD OF DEPARTMENT MESSAGE

Department of Laws was established in the year 1999 by Guru Nanak Dev University Amritsar as its Regional Campus at Gurdaspur, to cater the needs of the residents of this rural/border area. Currently, Department runs BA.LLB (Five Year Integrated Course) with the intake of 80 students every year. The admission process of the course is based on State level counseling on merit basis. The Department is having well qualified and experienced faculty members who provide guidance to the students not only for the law course but also for the other future opportunities available to the students after becoming law graduates. The Department has well furnished library with internet facility having approximately 9500 books and 453 subscribed Indian and Foreign Journals. Apart from this Department has well equipped Moot Court Hall and Legal Aid Clinic to give legal assistance to the poor and needy. Up till now the Department has produced approximately 22 Judicial Officers who are serving as Judges not only in Punjab but in other states also. Equally a good number of students are serving as District Attorneys, ADA’S, and Public Prosecutors in various courts of Punjab. The Department always strives for achieving excellence in legal education and for the success of students in legal field.
